Where Time Stands Still

Artwork Story
Following what he felt was a great success in “Secluded Sanctuary” (also featured here at Tell Me More in the Adelman Gallery) Jon felt quite satisfied with what he had produced from his favorite, secret little corner of San Diego. However, the intimate relationship that Jon built with this location would draw him back. This was a new challenge. Having felt that he reached his goal with the previous image, he wanted to somehow again express how amazing and diverse this single location is as time passes throughout the day. The day would always end the same with shooting the sunset but Jon knew he could capture a different time and mood if he shot the location in the time prior to the sky changing to the various red, yellow and pink shades we all are lucky enough to see in sunsets. “Where Time Stands Still” was named after the journey in looking for what it would become. Using a long exposure as the tide came in and rolled away, Jon could capture the still puddles that were left behind reflecting the sky in the distance and surrounding the interesting rocks that inhabit the area. But that wasn’t enough. Jon also wanted to capture the ocean in the distance showing how only in this single location had time felt to nearly stop at his feet as the quiet, serene nature of the puddles contrasted the active, crashing ocean in the distance.
