logo_horizontalUNOde50 was created in the late 90’s by the hand of a creative team who decided to create a style of jewellery that broke away from everything that existed until then. Tradition and modernity merged together to shape a different brand, with an ever-present handcrafted spirit that reflects exclusivity through design and quality..

The brand began with the exclusive philosophy of creating 50 units of each design, hence its name. Over time and through its rapid success, the brand increased production but still retained the name to remember, just as on the first day, that quality and exclusivity of each design are a priority. Today the company also continues to fulfil its promise of exclusivity through limited editions of 50 pieces that are released with each collection.

The icon of the Spanish jewellery brand, the small padlock, contains much more than a name. With a rounded shape and a handcrafted character, it was designed to symbolise the protection of exclusive uniquely designed jewellery.

UNOde50 is authentic for its:

  • Creativity
  • Unique style
  • Bold spirit
  • 100% handcrafted “Made in Spain” production process

HANDCRAFTED PROCESS

The handcrafted creation process is one of the cornerstones of UNOde50’s philosophy. The creation of each design follows a unique process in the world of fine jewellery. Uno de 50 still uses the same handcrafted production methods as it did when it began. The whole process (product design, shaping, casting, coating, mounting and handling) is carried out entirely in Spain.

1. INSPIRATION ON PAPER

The designers begin the creative process based on a theme that will inspire each collection. Once this line is determined they start working on the sketches that will help to establish the necessary materials to mount the piece.

2. CASTING PROCESS

All Uno de 50 designs combine silver plated metal alloys with leather, thread, resin or stone. This alloy which is so characteristic of the brand is difficult to work with; however, it manages to bring to life that unusual manual texture which it gives vigour to all the designs.

The same creative team is responsible for creating and manually treating the cast pieces. Depending on the size, thickness, and details of each model, the designers choose a type of wax or another with which they begin to create what will be the masterpiece.

The basic shape of the piece is given to the wax with the help of a hand saw. Later every detail is included with the help of files, chisels or scrapers.

The next step is to smooth and polish the wax to achieve a more perfect finish. Spatulas are used for this together with an alcohol burner with which the correct temperature is obtained so that the material can be shaped more easily.

Once the piece of wax has been treated to get the most affine shape, a mould is created where subsequently the metal alloy characteristic of Uno de 50 will be poured to obtain a first version of the master piece.

The piece obtained must continue to be manually worked to give the metal the shape and texture designed in the early sketches. Using a hacksaw the unwanted fragments are removed and then hammers, chisels or micro motors are used in order to achieve the most original of finishes.

In some cases, and depending on the design, pieces are welded with the help of hammers and torches.

Once the piece has been shaped it is subjected to an anti-allergic process, a 15 micron silver plating, and various quality controls. In those cases where the design combines silver with other materials such as leather, resins, crystals, etc. it is then that these elements are assembled.

The Spanish jewellery brand is present in over 40 countries.

It currently has showcases in major European fashion capitals such as Paris, Madrid, Rome, Milan, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Berlin; and in the most important cities in the United States: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, San Diego, Las Vegas, etc.

Its more than 100 Boutiques show the creative essence of the brand, through the decorative elements, which have been carefully made by its architectural team.

Following its success in Mexico, Panama, Russia, the Philippines and Guatemala among others, UNOde50 continues its unstoppable process of internationalisation. Among its imminent openings are Japan and the UK, and it has its sights on interesting markets such as Canada, Australia and Chile.
