Will Hawk
Wilbur Hawk, (born 1984), grew up in upstate New York. The harsh winters provided the perfect opportunity for a bored pre-teen to hone his craft. He started painting at 10 years old and spent his youth fine tuning it. The dream was to become a notable artist. The community Will grew up in would regularly commission him for portrait work, logos, murals and more. If you asked anyone he grew up with, they would tell you they’d expect Will to become a professional artist. He went on to two years of college to study art. He left after deciding he wanted real world experience instead of art in a classroom setting.
In 2005 (20 yo), Will uprooted from New York to find more opportunities in San Diego. He knew that he would need to create a life that would allow him to paint full time. As life took a detour for Will, for many reasons, he had to put a pause on his art career. At 22 he started his first business, at 24 his second, and by 2015 (age 31), he had started and managed 4 businesses and was 3 years into his 4th venture when he finally had the time to pick the brushes back up. At this point, he’s now married and running the business with his Wife Jessica. She began snapping photos of the rain misted roses they were growing together in their backyard. Will became intrigued and they starting a cool activity; Jessica would take the reference photo and Will would paint them. This was the moment Will’s 10 year break from painting ended.
Now Will spends half of his time in the studio, and half managing his most recent business venture in the solar industry. He continues to steadily paint commissions for collectors all over the US, while adding to his favorite “Misted Collection.” He’s determined to focus solely on painting and traveling the world in his 40’s (this year).
Adelman Fine Art is pleased to represent Will Hawk and share his talent with collectors worldwide.
“In my world, Art is much more than a profitable activity or a lesson in culture. It’s something that moves me and saves me. Creating allows my mind to clear the noise/anxiety and find new and beautiful ideas to enter my life. It’s a place for me to balance a relationship with my Creator (GOD / Jesus / Holy Spirit).
It’s my form of meditation, prayer and worship. If you know any part of my story then you might understand the power that art has on the psyche. We are ALL artists trying to figure out how to fuel our expressions, some of us just ignore those impulses. This journey has taught me so much. To dig deep within, search my soul, to change the thoughts that have haunted me into something beautiful. I’ll never feel my art is fully finished, and that parallels to my personal self development. Keep striving, stay hungry, do all the things that make you feel uncomfortable, and dance like no one’s watching! Keep your head up you beautiful humans.” – Will Hawk 2023
