Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, translated as “making flowers alive” is interpreted literally by Iris Scott in this botanical thematic that almost imperceptibly conceals sea slugs and a lionfish amidst dahlias and a sunflower. This is the first of a new collection inspired by New Mexico, where Iris has established a studio in 2020, the desert landscape giving her a thirst for large-scale oceanic imagery.

But sooner or later these emotions must break through, so I came up with metaphorical characters - a bird and a fish with human eyes. They will speak on the canvas instead of me." ~Daria Zaseda
