A soft blaze of sun slips across the ocean as a formation of pelicans glides overhead, silent, weightless, certain. This textured seascape captures a luminous low tide along the California coast, where sea foam meets sandstone and flight becomes a ceremony. The sky opens in hues of lavender, apricot, and turquoise, holding both stillness and motion in the same breath. One of Lisa Elley’s first pelican paintings, this piece marks the beginning of a new conversation with the coastal winged ones, sentinels of instinct, rhythm, and return.
