Long Way Down is a continuation of an on going series dealing with snippets of usually the tops of female heads with a small bird perched on them picking a strand of hair or just looking off to the distance. My intent is to capture a fleeting moment. Perhaps the bird had only landed for a second before flying on. This is why the subjects they have landed on usually have a look of surprise or are oblivious at that point that the bird has landed. I guess this is an exploration of the nature of happiness and lyricism in every day life. I think for most people a small bird sharing a fleeting moment with them adds a little magic to what is otherwise a routine life. A tiny bit of poetry in the monologue of existence, if you will. The works are meant to be a little quirky and not loud, but quite and engaging on a personal level. -Loui Jover
