"This piece was so much fun to do, people who have viewed this piece in person said: ”this piece has so much energy, motion and emotion in it." I wanted this piece to represent the earth and have the agate coming up through the fire. I wanted the piece to be warm earth tones yet bright and powerful like fire, giving it a abstract fire effect. I wanted it to be warm and organic but I added the turquoise blue to balance the piece for added contrast against the warm flames. To me the blue represents water as if the agate stones are being born under water making there way to the surface, or the blue could also be interpenetrated as sky and clouds instead of smoke. I wanted to give the illusion of both and let you the viewer decide on what you see and feel when you look at this piece. This piece is so much different in person, it has a lot of texture making the flames really stand out. The agate is off the canvas which brings extra depth to the piece. I have tried to show the texture with the pictures. All of the stones in this piece are Agate and Agate Slices. Properties of Agate: Protection, Strength, Harmony. Agate’s most noticeable properties overall are balancing yin/yang energy, courage, protection, healing, and calming." -Tesa Michaels
As an artist Tesa is inspired by nature’s abundant landscape. “In my ‘Elements Series’ of abstracts, the semi-precious stones are my inspiration. I am so intrigued by them. They are like snowflakes; not one is the same as another. They are formed by the earth and are old, beautiful and so unique. I love them all. However, I am quite partial to Amethyst, Quartz rough crystals and Agate. The stones are so diverse in their energy and spiritual properties, and their colors and textures. To me they are precious treasures that I want to combine with my art to highlight their beauty in a unique way.”
Tesa Michaels was artistically gifted at a young age, stating “I began to draw first, rather than write. As a fourth generation artist, my great grandpa, grandma, and mother passed on their artistic talents to me.
“I have always been immersed in creativity, constantly finding inspiration while my family has always inspired and encouraged me to be a professional artist. At the age of 12, I painted my first oil painting, and at age 17 I was accepted in my first national show.”
Tesa studied Fine Art and Graphic Design at The Art Institute of Colorado where she earned her degree. Tesa worked in the graphic design field for some time; in printing, as an Art Director for a health products company and in advertising at J. Walter Thompson as an Art Director working on Ford commercials. After some time Tesa re-discovered her roots as a Fine Artist and picked up oils and found her true niche calling. “As an artist I am so passionate about each piece and have so much fun creating art. I learn from every piece I do and I have more ideas than I do time. I have constant creative thoughts running through my head at all times that I only wish I had more time to accomplish what I would like.”
Ms. Michaels is also a member of Mixed Media Artists International and Society of Mixed Media Artists (SoMMA).
Adelman Fine Art is pleased to represent Tesa Michaels and share her talent with collectors worldwide.
