'I’ve never seen anything like it'
Most of the stones I use have been collected for a year in order to work out my compositions and then incorporate them into my paintings.
I get them from all around the world and from various vendors. Each semiprecious stone has individual properties generated energetically from the stone. The energy can be felt by wearing the stone, touching the stone and by having the stone in a room of your home.
I encourage people to touch the stones on the art to resonate with its properties. I include properties of the stones with the descriptions. Some stones are healing, energizing, loving, calming. Some resonate with different chakras and evoke emotions. These properties will fill your room where the art will hang. I love working with and showcasing the unique beauty found in each semiprecious stone. I work with mostly Grade A and B semiprecious stones. Sometimes I use stones that are in rough form before they are faceted like a fine piece of jewelry. The semiprecious stones I use in my Elements series come from all over the world.
I hope you enjoy these unique works as much as I enjoy creating them." ~Tesa Michaels
Element Used: Sand from Carlsbad Beach
As an artist Tesa is inspired by nature’s abundant landscape. “In my ‘Elements Series’ of abstracts, the semi-precious stones are my inspiration. I am so intrigued by them. They are like snowflakes; not one is the same as another. They are formed by the earth and are old, beautiful and so unique. I love them all. However, I am quite partial to Amethyst, Quartz rough crystals and Agate. The stones are so diverse in their energy and spiritual properties, and their colors and textures. To me they are precious treasures that I want to combine with my art to highlight their beauty in a unique way.”
Tesa Michaels was artistically gifted at a young age, stating “I began to draw first, rather than write. As a fourth generation artist, my great grandpa, grandma, and mother passed on their artistic talents to me.
“I have always been immersed in creativity, constantly finding inspiration while my family has always inspired and encouraged me to be a professional artist. At the age of 12, I painted my first oil painting, and at age 17 I was accepted in my first national show.”
Tesa studied Fine Art and Graphic Design at The Art Institute of Colorado where she earned her degree. Tesa worked in the graphic design field for some time; in printing, as an Art Director for a health products company and in advertising at J. Walter Thompson as an Art Director working on Ford commercials. After some time Tesa re-discovered her roots as a Fine Artist and picked up oils and found her true niche calling. “As an artist I am so passionate about each piece and have so much fun creating art. I learn from every piece I do and I have more ideas than I do time. I have constant creative thoughts running through my head at all times that I only wish I had more time to accomplish what I would like.”
Adelman Fine Art is pleased to represent Tesa Michaels and share her talent with collectors worldwide.
